The EDEKA-Center Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt celebrated its 30th anniversary last week. The retail park is part of the portfolio of Greenman OPEN, one of the leading investment funds for food-anchored real estate in Germany, and is managed by GFORM. GFORM and the anchor tenant EDEKA Minden-Hannover look back on a strong long-standing partnership.

The retail park in Aschersleben, located between Seegraben and Geschwister-Scholl-Straße, has a total rental area of approx. 9,000 squaremeters and offers around 500 parking spaces. In addition to the EDEKA-Center with c. 3,370 squaremeters, tenants include a Lotto kiosk, Medimax, Fressnapf, a pharmacy and a medical supply store. The EDEKA-Center has been successfully managed by store manager Katrin Wutke since it opened. In future, the daughter of Kaufmann Heiko Grunert will take over the management and thus continue the family tradition in Aschersleben.

“We are proud to have EDEKA Minden-Hannover as a strong and reliable partner in our retail park. With the current store manager, Heiko Grunert, and previously as a Regiemarkt, EDEKA has been making a significant contribution to local supply and strengthening the retail location of Aschersleben for three decades,” says Jennifer Mühlen, Head of Real Estate Management at GFORM. “The long-term cooperation and the joint focus on quality and sustainability are a prime example of our strategy as manager and owner.”

The anniversary week at the EDEKA-Center offered a varied program for visitors on various days – from a Santa Claus, who was available for family photos, to a raffle for local associations, to a visit from the Mayor of the city Steffen Amme, who personally came to congratulate. Besides employees and tenants of the EDEKA-Center, the management of GFORM and representatives of White Bird – GFORM’s sister company responsible for the technical management of the property – also took part in the celebrations and used the opportunity to underline their long-term vision for the location and their interest in developing the asset further.

Greenman OPEN as owner and GFORM as manager of the property are pursuing a long-term strategy to make the site future-proof. To this end, innovative concepts for a modern and sustainable development of the site are being developed together with GFORM’s long-standing partner, the architectural firm RATHKE Architekten BDA, which combine technical, ecological and social aspects. Future prospects include investments in renewable energies such as rooftop solar and the expansion of the e-charging infrastructure by the Greenman subsidiary Greenman Energy. In addition, “Horizon”, another sister company of GFORM, will implement innovative concepts for an intelligent building, while “Beezdorf” will integrate social and ecological projects at the site. The vertical farm “Potager Farm” enables sustainable food production on site.
